Long Range Transportation Plan Update

The 2040 Long Range Transportation Plan is the long-term vision for Kane County that guides transportation development through the year 2040. Mandated by Illinois State Statute, a long-range transportation plan is imperative for the safety of Kane County residents and visitors, and an essential planning and implementation tool to support viable economic development. The plan is based on projections of growth and travel demand and seeks solutions on how to accommodate additional residents and jobs by the year 2040. Development of the Long Range Transportation Plan identifies the long term transportation needs in the county and contains strategies and implementation plans for improvements to the transportation network. To view the existing plan, click here.

Kane County Division of Transportation is in the process of updating the existing approved 2040 Long Range Transportation Plan. Public input is an important component of the planning process. Our online interactive survey collected over 2,100 responses and over 3,500 individual comments on safety, congestion, biking and walking and transit. KDOT thanks everyone who participated. Comments and survey results are being reviewed and will help to develop the updated plan.
